Dance Well: Artist training

Dance Well is organising a week of intensive training for all artists who wish to work in community dance with older people.
You will receive theoretical workshops on class planning, Dementia, working with those with heart and lung diseases, and safeguarding training as well as practical workshops on how to design a class for older adults, including sessions led by existing Dance Well Artists.
Limited availability: 25 people (first come first registered)
Fee: the training course will be partly subsidised by Dance Well. However, in order to provide you with a high quality training, we ask participants to pay £40 for four days. This price will also include a safeguarding certificate (required for working with vulnerable adults).
ADDITIONAL TRAINING DAY FOR ALL ARTISTS (Including performers) on Friday 11 August (AM only)
We are providing 2 Healthier Dancer Programme workshops run by One Dance UK to help you optimise your performance, reduce risk of injury and ensure that you and your students/fellow dancers are working in a safe dance environment.
These are applicable to both teachers and performing artists.
- Safe Dance Practice – This talk covers all the basics of safe dance practice including industry standards and injury management. (1.5 hours)
- Physical Differences – This practical workshop explores students’ physical differences in flexibility, strength, fitness and body shape. It also considers how age, gender and genetics may affect these areas. (1.5 hours)
Fee – £25 for both or £15 for one
