From the Director’s desk

This is the last quarter of my tenure at Akademi. I would like to thank everyone who has travelled with me in this journey of 30 years. Over the last couple of months, I have started to sieve through our historical records before they are archived at the V&A. The process has filled me with nostalgia and immense pride for all of Akademi’s achievements, thanks to all the artists, collaborators and team members involved. This pride is amplified as Akademi wins two more prestigious awards – from India Inc and SME News. But there is so much more to be accomplished. Throughout our 40th anniversary celebrations, we are looking forward as much as looking back. At NAVADAL 2019, earlier in July, we discovered a promising future generation of South Asian Dance artists.

We are now gearing up for our autumn events which will take place in the company of Akademi’s Founder, Tara Rajkumar OAM, who is flying all the way from Australia to join us. I urge you to visit our website, to find out more about the programme and book tickets. I look forward to seeing you there.
