National South Asian Youth Dance Competition

If the likes of Akram KhanShobana Jeyasingh and Aakash Odedra are your dance role models, you are in the right place. They all began their careers at Akademi.

NAVADAL, meaning ‘new shoots’, is Akademi’s National South Asian Youth Dance Competition – a showcase of the rising stars of South Asian dance in the UK. NAVADAL is open to students aged 11-25.

Participants of our previous youth dance competitions such as Parbati ChaudhurySantosh Nair and Raheem Mir have been a part of Akademi’s artist development programmes or productions, with some of them also participating in larger mainstream platforms like BBC Young Dancer.
