The Royal Collection exhibition at The Queen’s Gallery

An exciting project curated and delivered for The Royal Collection Trust at The Queen’s Gallery, Buckingham Palace. It included Classical Indian dance performances, storytelling sessions for a family audience, portrayal of historic characters and community workshops for older adults resulting in a performance. All these activities were curated by Akademi in response to the ongoing exhibitions at the gallery, ‘Splendours of the Subcontinent’ and ‘Eastern Encounters’.

Performances at Thursday Lates for ‘Eastern Encounters’ by : ANKH Dance (Saloni Saraf, Raheem Mir) and Upahaar Dance (Daniella Zak Zara Varghese, Pallavi Anand and Anekha Pillai). Historic character out of the paintings and public interaction at Thursday Lates for ‘Eastern Encounters’ by: Sonia Chandaria. Weekend workshops for families during ‘Splendours of the Subcontinent’: Storytelling by Seema Anand and Kathak workshop by Abirami Eswar with tabla artist Aniroodh Mukerji.

The five month long community engagement project was in curated connection with the ‘Splendours of the Subcontinent’ exhibition, supported by the Bagri Foundation and lead by artists Archita Kumar, Elena Catalano, Parbati Chaudhury and Rachel Waterman. It involved four groups of young and older participants. One of them was our lovely Dance Well workshop members from Harefield Hospital.
