Nrityadhee School of Odissi in association with ODA (Orissa Dance Academy) and SOAS Indian Dance Society present an exclusive partnering with eminent Odissi exponent, SNA awardee Padmashree Guru Aruna Mohanty. In this event, experience the artistry, fluidity and variance of Odissi through dialogue, film and performances.
Featuring: an exhilarating screening of PadmaVibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mohapatra’s last performance; the cultural secretary of ODA Aruna Mohanty discussing touring work that adheres to traditional Odissi vocabulary while experimenting with context and presentation; a presentation by Katie Ryan on teaching and developing an Odissi syllabus in the UK; a discussion panel with Sanjeevani Dutta, Parvati Rajamani and Elena Catalano and members of ISTD addressing the many facets of the form moderated by Maryam Shakiba; and performances by Pallabi Basak (Vijay), students of Nrityadhee and Bhumi Dance Academy.
