Workshops with Rukmini Vijayakumar
In a great opportunity for dance artists in the UK, renowned Bharatanatyam virtuoso from India, Rukmini Vijayakumar, leads two workshops in London.

Open to Bharatanatyam students with five years training or more.
In this workshop students will learn a piece of Bharatanatyam repertoire, composed for and choreographed by Rukmini Vijayakumar.

Open to students of any classical Indian dance form with a minimum of ten years of experience.
The workshop will facilitate exploration into their respective classical vocabularies. It will lead participants through the possibilities of extending the application of the physical vocabulary into varied contexts. The participants will go through several exercises that lead them to question the norms of application. They will also be given tools that they can apply subsequently in creation and exploration.
Please arrive 15 mins early to change and be ready to start at the given time. Bring a pen, notebook, water bottle and snack to the workshop.

Rukmini Vijayakumar is the Director of her Classical Dance Company Raadha Kalpa and her art space LshVa, in Bangalore, India. After an initial exposure to ballet, she pursued a training and rigorous practice in Bharatanatyam under the tutelage of renowned practitioners. She later graduated from the Boston Conservatory with a BFA in Modern dance and Ballet. She is an avid yoga practitioner and has Studied Human Anatomy and Physiology at the Boston University. Rukmini’s productions have toured the world and have been appreciated by audiences. She is also an actor recognised for the roles that she has played in several Indian Films and Theatre performances.
