Chandalika – The Tale of Trodden

An innovative solo dance-theatrical performance by Suchismita Ganguly who combines the classical dance form bharatanatyam with her theatrical skills to play dual roles in the classic dance drama Chandalika.

Suchismita Ganguly is an established Bharatanatyam dancer of Thanjavur style, having started her training under the guidance of Guru Dr. Thankamani Kutty in India at the tender age of six. Since her Arangetram debut in 1996 she has performed widely all over India as well as in the UK, Germany and the US. She has also received extensive training in Mohiniyattam from Guru Dr. Thankamani Kutty and in Kuchipudi from Dr. Madhuri Majumdar in India. Currently she is undertaking her ISTD qualification under Smt. Pushkala Gopal in London and is actively involved in teaching & performing.

Celebrating 40 inspiring years.

2019 is Akademi’s 40th anniversary year and we want to celebrate the breadth and richness of South Asian dance in the UK. We’ve invited artists to submit information on London-based events that they are planning between April 2019 and April 2020 to form the Akademi Associated programme.
