Akademi at 40 | APOTHEOSIS (2019)

Classical Indian dance performed in response to the South Asian collection on display at The British Museum. 

Presented at the Hotung Gallery in The British Museum, Friday 15 November 2019.

A peek into the history of South Asia through two powerful instruments of imparting cultural heritage – sculpture and performing arts – one frozen in time and the other ever-evolving. In this culminating event in Akademi’s 40th anniversary programme, audience got to experience the artistry, fluidity and variance of Indian Classical dance styles performed on traditional music against the backdrop of the exquisite sculptures in the Hotung Gallery.
