Akademi’s Oral History Project has inspired the creation of a new podcast series

We have been running oral history workshops with schools and dance companies as part of Akademi’s Heritage Project for the past few months.

The sessions have inspired one of the participants from Pagrav Dance Company, Shaili Desai, to start her own oral history podcast, “Retraced: A Migration Story”, along with a friend, all about migration, culture and identity. You can follow the podcast on Instagram @migrationretraced to be the first to know about any new episodes being released and stay in touch with this amazing project.

A wonderful example is the episode below, tracing the extraordinary journey of Kathakali artist Kalamandalam Vijayakumar and Chutti artist Kalamandalam Barbara Vijayakumar from The Kala Chethena Kathakali Company.
